Multi-Room Air Conditioning Installation Case Study

This case study covers a multi-room air conditioning installation Eaglereach Mechanical carried out for a 3-bedroom semi-detached home, fitting a multi-split system that heats and cools every room from a single outdoor unit.

Customer situation

Our customer owns a 3-bedroom semi-detached house and wanted to keep it well heated during winter while also ensuring it stayed cool during the summer. Their kitchen and lounge had a tendency to get extremely hot between June and September, and from October through to March both rooms were very cold. They contacted Eaglereach Mechanical to enquire about a domestic air conditioning installation but had limited space outside for an outdoor unit and wanted to avoid multiple condensers on the exterior of the house. This is a situation where a multi-split air conditioning system is the ideal solution. A single outdoor unit connects to multiple indoor units throughout the house, keeping the exterior tidy while giving every room independent temperature control.

Our solution

The Eaglereach team attended the property and completed a full site survey to assess the layout and identify the best type of system to fit the customer’s requirements. We identified that a Panasonic multi-split system was the best option, allowing every room to be heated and cooled from a single outdoor unit without needing multiple condensers on the exterior walls. We advised on the range of systems available, where the indoor units could be most appropriately positioned, and the brand we would recommend as the best fit. Wall-mounted units were installed in the open-plan living room, kitchen, lounge, and bedrooms.

A single Panasonic multi-split outdoor condenser was mounted on the gable wall, with neat pipework colour-matched to the guttering to keep it as discreet as possible. This is an important consideration for any air conditioning installation, especially on semi-detached properties where the outdoor unit may be visible to neighbours. If you’re unsure whether your installation needs approval, we’ve put together a guide on planning permission for air conditioning.

Once installed, we ran through instructions for the customer on how to use the system from the controls in the house and also remotely via an app on their phone. The ability to control the system remotely is especially useful for adjusting the temperature before arriving home, so the house is already comfortable when you walk in.

The outcome

The multi-room air conditioning installation has left our customer with a house perfectly heated when they need warmth and beautifully cool during the summer months. They have the flexibility to set different temperatures in each room, which is particularly helpful in the kitchen which can get hotter than the rest of the house while cooking. The added advantage of controlling the system from an app when not at home means they can adjust settings remotely and return to a cosy warm house in winter, or come home to a perfectly cool house in summer. If you’re considering a similar setup, we cover the main system types on our residential air conditioning services page, including split wall units, multi-split systems, ducted systems, and ceiling cassettes. We also offer air conditioning repair and servicing to keep your system running efficiently year-round.
